Outside Ideas was awarded the CST and landscaping packages for the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal by McConnell Dowell.
Work for the CST package began on site in August 2021 with 8,000 metres of electrical conduits and pits and 2.5 kilometres of trenching to be installed. Outside Ideas completed the CST works with zero service strikes, and was later awarded the landscaping package on the back of the successful delivery of the CST package.
The landscaping component was completed over 9 months with practical completion achieved in May 2023. The scope included over 23,000 plants, 341 trees, 3,000 square metres of Kikuyu instant turf, 1,470 square metres of AC10 asphalt, over 5,000 square metres of sand lay paving, GRC planter modules, parkour play equipment and rubber softfall, and detailed sports court acrylic surfacing. Coloured concrete was installed to the bridge with both broom finish and sand blasted treatments applied.
Additional contract scope was awarded to extend the bike lane from Chief Street to Coglin Street, including the installation of paving, irrigation, soft landscaping, and concrete driveways to both sides of the road. The site was reopened to the public in May 2023. The successful completion of both the CST and landscaping packages has solidified the already strong relationship that Outside Ideas has with McConnell Dowell.
