In 2021, Outside Ideas was awarded the Memorial Drive Culvert Upgrade for the City of Tea Tree Gully.
This was a complicated and congested project directly adjacent businesses, residents, and the historical Tea Tree Gully War Memorial Gardens. The project included the demolition of the existing road and culverts, significant bulk earthworks and realignment of the existing creek, precast concrete culverts with insitu concrete headwalls and structural base, gabion retaining walls and rockwork to the creek. Once the culverts and creek works were finished a complete road reconstruction of Memorial Drive was also undertaken including new retaining walls and the relocation of the existing watermain.
The culvert upgrade had added complexities as the works were required to be undertaken during wetter months of the year. As the project was within an active waterway, all works in the creek were critical and had to be strategically programmed and fast-tracked to be completed between significant weather events.
