In 2020, Outside Ideas was awarded the Mount Barker Community Sports Hub project, working collaboratively with Sarah Constructions over a nine-month period.

The project included significant irrigation and landscaping works including the construction of an AFL standard oval which included, the design and construction of four clay wickets to SACA specifications and in the presence of current Adelaide Oval curator Damien Hough, stormwater installation including Megaflo, irrigation, growing media and instant Santa Ana turf. We also provided a tailored 12-week establishment period which included top dressing, fertilising and scarifying the turf ready for play in 2021. The oval was approximately 20,000m2.

Outside Ideas assisted Sarah Constructions in the design development phase using our experience from previous projects to help deliver a high-standard oval constructed during the winter months in challenging conditions.

Outside Ideas also provided wetland planting works to the new detention basin which involved sourcing and planting plants from the local area that would adapt to the new site conditions and provide the required filtration prior to being discharged from the site. We also supplied and installed the bollards along the main internal roadway. Over 400 trees were planted, and there was approximately 15,000m2 of hydroseeding applied to the surrounds of the site and established using site-wide irrigation.
