In 2017, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield awarded Outside Ideas Stages 2 and 3 of the Taperoo Reserve redevelopment.

Works commenced on the soccer pitch and carpark in November 2017 and on the community park in December 2018. The old Taperoo Primary School site has now been repurposed as a multi-use public space. The scope of works included the soccer pitch and carparks for the new Port Adelaide Pirates clubroom, new sports court, custom playground equipment, landscaping and amenities.

A mobile screening plant was used to process contaminated materials uncovered during the demolition works. All materials that could be safely re-used were recycled on site. An old leaking gas tank that was located underground was secured to prevent it from leaching into the water table.

Stages 2 and 3 of the reserve upgrade also included stormwater and civil works, structural and architectural concreting, irrigation, paving and turf reinstatement. Both stages were completed in June 2019. Taperoo Reserve was renamed in 2021 as Ngarrpadla (Aunty) Josie Angus Reserve.
