In 2019, Outside Ideas was awarded the Eyre Highway Streetscape Upgrade at Wudinna in regional SA.
This was a complicated project that had to be completed in multiple stages to accommodate critical traffic requirements on a live highway and maintaining residential property access in a rural and isolated area.
The project included a complete road reconstruction of approximately two kilometres of Eyre Highway including a significant stormwater and asphalting package the entire length of the road as well as electrical, concrete pathways, WSUD basins and kerbing.
The streetscape had added complexities due to the rural site location and maintaining traffic flow specifically during tasks such as providing road crossings for installation of electrical cabling as well as excavation and reinstatement of adjoining road shoulders to tie in the new design to existing.
Coordination with residents when excavating and sealing driveway crossovers was critical in ensuring minimal delays on site during construction as well as project satisfaction by the public upon completion.
