In 2020, Outside Ideas was awarded the civil, landscaping, and concrete works for the Brighton Oval Stage 2B project.
This project was the final stage where council had already delivered three new sporting clubrooms and minor amendments to the Brighton Road interface. This stage was upgrading the internal roadways, car parks, electrical and services infrastructure to meet the new requirements of the clubrooms recently delivered.
The project included demolition of the existing road and site infrastructure, excavation to subgrade levels, major civil works to reconstruct the road profile, permeable paving, major stormwater infrastructure, concrete paving, kerbing, and new lighting to the car parks and electrical infrastructure. We also delivered two new asphalt car parks to the football club and permeable paved parking bays surrounding the football oval. We also constructed a brand new playspace with custom play equipment and shade structures.
We provided significant stakeholder management to the rugby, football and lacrosse clubs using the facility while construction was being undertaken. We provided a staged approach that would allow trainings and games to be played safely and with minimal disruptions. We also provided staged handovers to maintain vehicle and parking access as close as possible to each clubroom for the duration of the project. One element was a major stormwater run through the football oval that had be excavated, laid, and backfilled in one week between football matches.
