In 2025, Outside Ideas was awarded the George Street Upgrade by the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters.
This streetscape upgrade, taking place between The Parade and Harris Street, is the first stage of The Parade Masterplan, Council’s $30 million commitment to improving pedestrian and motorist movement and safety within Norwood’s busiest retail and business district.
Outside Ideas is delivering new kerbing, paving, and street trees, as well as an extensive upgrade to the stormwater system. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic management are key considerations on this project due to its location adjacent to The Parade and the thoroughfares that service both the Norwood Place and Norwood Central shopping centres. Our extensive experience in complex streetscape upgrades equipped us with the knowledge and in-house resources to manage a complex audit and amelioration of the existing stormwater system, as well as addressing soil contamination across the various work zones along the streetscape.
The Council and our project team are committed to minimising disruption to traders, residents and visitors to the precinct during the George Street Upgrade. We have designed our program to ensure uninterrupted access to these local businesses by working in stages, ensuring we can maintain the flow of pedestrian traffic around the work site in a safe and compliant manner, and completing portions of the paving works outside of business hours. The George Street Upgrade was completed in early 2026.
