In 2019, Outside Ideas was awarded a contract to complete the landscaping package for the joint Australian and South Australian Government funded $141 million Flinders Link Project that connects the Tonsley Rail line to the Flinders health and education precincts.
Whilst construction was underway, the scope of our contract was revised and expanded to include further hardscape elements and street furniture, filling gaps in the scope for the client. The Outside Ideas team worked nights and weekends to accommodate the infrastructure works taking place between both stations and self-delivered the majority of our scope of work, including soft landscaping, asphalt, decorated gravel, mulch, paving, reno mattress swales, Kanmantoo boulders, gabion walling, bins, seating, signage, and all of the earthing and bonding required for these items.
Outside Ideas worked through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and adapted to the scheduling pressures inflicted by lockdown restrictions in order to deliver the project successfully. This included watering over 30,000 plants by hand to ensure they would be kept alive until work could recommence on site. Outside Ideas is proud to have delivered this milestone project for the State Government.
