In 2017, the City of Adelaide awarded Outside Ideas the contract to complete Stage One of the City Bikeways project on Frome Street.
Due to complexities with the design and to accommodate the requirements of local traders, the project was delivered in two separate stages. The design involved creating safe, delineated bike paths along Frome Street between Rundle Street and Pirie Streets. The scope of works included significant civil, stormwater and services works, realignment of the road and parking, new paving and concrete paths, electrical, lighting and landscaping works. The project was tendered and awarded from 75% documentation and further consultation, input and refinement were required to develop the design for construction.
The job faced heavy scrutiny from key stakeholders and the community from design through to construction and a collaborative approach with the City of Adelaide was fundamental to the successful delivery of the project. Stage One of the works were completed in February 2018, and Stage Two was completed in August 2018.
