Outside Ideas was awarded the Church and John Streets Revitalisation Project by the City of Salisbury.
The scope included the addition of thousands of square metres of garden beds providing major and immediate aesthetic enhancement along the 2 kilometre stretch of streetscape.
Church Street was realigned to increase the Salisbury Hub plaza for community events while creating a safer bus route from the exchange only a street away. The centrepiece of the scope was an upgrade performed to the public lighting system which adopts a smart city design approach. This upgrade involved over 6 kilometres of new underground electric conduits and 63 new light poles.
Works were strategically staged to ensure construction could be undertaken without disrupting the trade of local businesses. Outside Ideas worked closely with the City of Sailsbury’s community stakeholders to ensure any special requirements were taken into consideration while works were completed within their zones. All road work activities were accelerated into a short road shutdown period which had to be programmed carefully around trader deliveries, Torrens Transit and the community to ensure the impact to local traffic over this shut down period was minimal. Work was completed on site in early 2023.
