In January 2013 Outside Ideas were awarded the main contract for Stages 1 & 2 of the Glades Reserve Play Space in Hallett Cove for the City of Marion. The area was a large open reserve relatively untouched and bare but widely used throughout the community as a thoroughfare to shops and schools. Working on a design created by the City of Marion we started by clearing the reserve of diseased nonnative trees and stumps. This opened the reserve up for large scale earthworks and reshaping the contours of the ground.

We imported over 3,000 tonne of locally sourced clean fill to build up certain areas of the park so the design could include play equipment, shelters and a BMX track. A rock lined swale creek was constructed from locally sourced stone to direct storm water into the soon to be constructed wetlands. Over 500 m2 of rubber softfall was installed in various colours around five different pieces of playground equipment and three wave shelters were erected to provide picnic areas for families to enjoy.

A BBQ and automatic toilet were also part of the scope of works and various hardwood seats and tables are strategically placed to offer rest areas for users of the reserve. An added part of the scope was the removal of path along Quailo Avenue and replace with car parks, bus stop and new path.
