The City of Marion engaged Outside Ideas to upgrade the busy Finniss Street streetscape in 2018 as a significant component of the Marion Historic Village precinct development. Outside Ideas executed the entirety of the streetscape redevelopment, including demolition of the existing footpath, installation of a new widened footpath paved in concrete unit interlocking paving, parking and bus bays, a new wombat crossing, irrigation, rain gardens, new concrete kerbing and decorative concrete in front of the shopping strip.

Outside Ideas worked in collaboration with the City of Marion to ensure that the existing road base for the footpaths could be repurposed as a base for the new concrete unit paving, an economical and practical solution that negated the need for additional demolition works.

The intersection in front of the shopping centre was demolished and rebuilt, requiring the roadway to be temporarily shut down to enable the works to be safely completed. Outside Ideas liaised directly with shop owners and residents to keep them informed for the duration of the civil works. The construction program was compressed over a weekend to ensure the shutdown of the roadway had as little impact on the local community as possible.

Following the successful completion of the Finniss Street upgrade, Outside Ideas was appointed to execute the Railway Terrace Streetscape Project, a similar upgrade commencing in June 2019.
