In January 2022, Outside Ideas began work on the Dover Street Open Space and Detention Basin, designed to provide flood protection for current and future residents of the area. The scope of work includes extensive civil earthworks, removing 40,000 tonnes of material, plus the installation of 200m of stormwater drainage systems, including the construction of an 8m long underground stormwater diversion pit. The scope also includes a new nature play area, a sporting ground (soccer pitch) with new retaining walls and concrete seating, a basketball court, softscape landscaping (trees, planting, gardens beds, and turf) and a full irrigation plan.

This project will incorporate and showcase Outside Ideas’ capabilities in civil works, landscaping, and concreting. Early on in this project, we were able to assist with complex design issues in order to work towards a solution for council approval, whilst ensuring no delays to the project itself. This project highlights our ability to self-deliver and manage subcontractors concurrently across all of the required elements, and create a smooth run from construction to completion, by utilising our own plant and equipment.
