Lendlease awarded Outside Ideas the civil and landscaping packages for the Australian Bragg Centre in the Adelaide CBD, a $500 million development for cancer research and proton therapy, the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Work began on site in July 2023.
The scope included demolition of existing structures and pavements, civil preparation for new asphalt pavements, installation of drainage cells connecting to the stormwater network, and importing of engineered fill to place atop of structural slab ready for exposed aggregate finished concrete pavements. Outside Ideas also delivered formwork, reinforcement and concrete placement for stairs, tiered planters, and seating walls to the main entrance of the building.
Softscape landscaping works undertaken by Outside Ideas included soil and drainage, planting and placement of trees to precast planters on structural slab, and landscaped planters throughout 5 levels of the building.
Due to the high-profile inner-city location, extremely tight access and timeline constraints, considerable efforts went into establishing a concise programme and methodology to achieve the project deadlines. Despite these challenges, Outside Ideas handed over the project ahead of schedule to a happy client.
