When Hansen Yuncken was awarded the Adelaide Youth Training Centre at Cavan as managing contractor they engaged Outside Ideas for their landscaping works on the 7.7 hectare greenfields site.
The contract included soil screening and ameoliation of 20,000 tonnes of site topsoil as well as carting and dumping a further 6,000 tonnes of clean fill. The scope of works also included the design and construction of a 56 station irrigation system, 30,000 plants and trees as well as 34,000 square metres of turf.
Over a seven month period Outside Ideas managed a team of 25 employees on site to complete a two metre high in situ concrete feature wall, the preparation and construction of two sports fields, the supply and installation of play equipment and street furniture as well as rubber soft fall. Outside Ideas also provided a water cart on site to manage dust for all contractors.
Working in a prison meant the design and construction methods needed to adapt to meet safety requirements of the client.
